Indecisive...
May. 2nd, 2007 04:22 pmI just had a son 7 weeks ago. It took me the entire nine months of my pregnancy to name him. The worst part was everyone asking me if I had picked a name out while I was pregnant...when I would answer "no", they would give me a judging sort of look as if to say what kind of mother doesn't know what she will name her kid??!! It was a very important decision to me. I ran a few ideas past my mother and mother-in-law...talk about torture!!! I value their "opinions", but at times they were pushy and just plain rude. The decision was hard enough already. For my next pregnancy, I have decided that if anyone asks me what the baby's name is, I am going to say it is a secret. That way I don't have to deal with the added pressure.
The moment he was born, and I saw him, I knew...his name should be

Suits him doesn't it...

Date: 2007-05-02 10:12 pm (UTC)And ugh, that's really lame they would judge you for not knowing what to name your child right away. To me, it's an incredibly important decision, but some people don't even put all that much consideration or importance into it and expect you to come up with a name really quickly. Then they judge you just because you're not going with super traditional names or super kre8ive names or whatever their taste is and.. uuugh. I know it's going to take me forever to choose a name and I'll probably end up going by what suits my child best. Kudos to you for going by your gut instinct and waiting to know for sure the name you choose will fit your baby. :D

Date: 2007-05-02 11:06 pm (UTC)I keep asking my sister in law about picking a name for her upcoming baby. I wanted to do some gifts for her with the baby's name on them, but she hasn't chosen anything. I never thought I was being a pain in her butt. I should probably leave her alone about that!!! Thanks for reminding me that people who bug pregnant ladies are obnoxious :)....even though we have the best intentions!

Date: 2007-05-03 02:00 am (UTC)My cousin was deadset on naming her daughter Alana or Skyy and I felt that she wasn't going to stick to any of them and held off on monogramming. When they called me to tell me my goddaughter had arrived her name was Gabriella. I can't imagine her as anything else.
