I feel kind of silly even joining but I wanted to share some names I have been tossing around and this seems like a great place for me to do that without freaking out my boyfriend. First - a little about me. My name is Carri-Ann and I'm 20 years old. I'm not pregnant and do not want to be pregnant at this point in my life. I (mostly) love kids and think a lot about having a baby someday, like 10, 15 years down the line. I really want to have a girl so I have a lot of girl names and I like non-traditional, creative names.


Ayla Ryn (I like either Iris or Hathor as a third name)
Jasper Rene
Jasper Leigh
Jasper Dawn (i really like the name Jasper. can you tell? haha)
Loradonna
Ione (Eye-oh-nee) Rain

Durc
Thomas Cole

(for those who have read Auel's Earth's Children series, that is where Ayla and Durc came from)

I like Ayla and Ione Rain. I like Jasper, but only as a boy's name. I guess as a mineral/nature name it could be unisex, but it just doesn't work for me. Don't care for the filler mns Renee, Leigh or Dawn at all. Loradonna is ok... I'd prefer just Lora I think.

Durc would confuse a lot of people thinking it was spelled like Dirk -- which reminds me of porn stars btw.

Thomas is ok, but pretty dull imo. I like it more in its full form, than with the nn Tom or Tommy.


And welcome to the naming world. Don't feel silly about it; there's a lot of us name freaks out there. I've been collecting and studying names, and posting in various online naming communities for close to 10 years now. You don't have to be pregnant to be allowed to think about names or have opinions. :)

How do you pronounce Ayla? Is it like Kayla without the K or does it sound like an I, like Island? I like it if it sounds like an I, very pretty...I've never heard it before.

Thanks! Thomas Cole is a mixture of my dad (Thomas) and my sister Nicole (Cole).

Ayla can be pronounced either way but I prefer to say it like Kayla but without the K.

for i girl i really like Jaspreet, as opposed to Jasper. Maybe you do too? Because Jaspreet is an actual female name.
