[identity profile] ace-hart.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hello all!

I just found this site moments ago through the spot-lite and I was thrilled to have found a community like this. I don't know if or when I'll ever have children, but I am a writer (or I like to think so at any rate), and I love coming up with or finding unique names to use for my characters.

Currently I am in the planning stages of a modern supernatural fantasy, and I would like to get opinions on the names of the characters I have selected so far, as well as any suggestions for names that people think would would fit well in my 'world'.

Names I have so far:

Boys:
Cato and Callisto (brothers)
Caspian
Alexius

Girls
Midi
Mona
Amaranta
Gabriella

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. And, if it helps at all, the names are meant to be rather Mediterranean in origin, so that may narrow the field a bit.

Thank you!

A sorcerer's name I was thinking of using at one point was Erastus; it's a male name, but I forget the cultural root.

I love Caspian, but it does rather scream Narnia...not that that should put you off using it, but I'd say you definitely need to consider the connotations for your readers.

In Greek mythology, Callisto was a female nymph. Here's her story (http://www.pantheon.org/articles/c/callisto.html).
