[identity profile] amai-amaya.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Hello,

I'm new to this community but have had an obsession with names since I was little, so I guess this really is the right place for me ;)

Perhaps my obsession with names is a result of my own rather unique name, but who knows... ^.^

I tend to like unique and uncommon names, and although I don't have any children and don't plan on having any in the near future I still think a lot about them, but unfortunately, I'm also awfully picky.
Besides, I'm German but I think German names are pretty boring (I hope I'm not offending anybody by saying this, it's just my opinion and other people might very well like German names, which is also fine with me).

Despite all that, here are my personal favourites:

Girls:

- Kela (pronounced Kay-La)
- Illeana
- Isis
- Leia

Boys:

- Luke
- Josiah
- Keziah
- Nathan
- Rei

What do you think of them, any other suggestion that involve unique and unusual names?
I'd be very thankful (:

Leia and Luke, eh?

Kela spelled Kayla qualifies as a common name where I live. I can think of three off the top of my head, and I know there are more.

Leia is a favorite. I don't see how you can get Kayla from Kela, just spell it Kayla? It looks like 'kel-a'. Luke and Nathan are cute! Keziah and Rei (is that Ray?) I don't like.

Ahhh, that accounts for the difference, I didn't know you were IN Germany, I thought you just made up a spelling!

those don't even sound German to me... I think Dietrich (my son's name), Adolf, Gottfried, Greta, Franzi, and so on when I think of German names. I guess those are the "old people" names...

Same with boys a little younger than me here in Norway.

I really love the name Kela (as long as it's pronounced Kay-la)
I guess it's just weird seeing it spelled Kela. But I understand the language difference.

I have a friend whose named Kyna (Kee-nah). Its prety different, as I've never heard it used by anyone else, but I find it pretty.
