[identity profile] mickey-sixx.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Came via the LJ Spotlight. Like many others that have posted here, I'm no where near close to having kids yet, but names have always been a fascination with me. Usually, I get inspiration from characters in books or TV, but some of these I've always liked. I was named after a song by a British 60's band called The Hollies. I was named for their 1967 hit Carrie Anne, but my Mum wanted to change the spelling so it ended up as being Karianne. I have yet to see anyone else have the same spelling, so I guess I'm unique. :P

Anyway, on to my names:

Unisex
Jamie (I've always wanted to use this for a girl, but for a boy is good too)
Jay (Same reason as above)
Jordan

Girls
Rai (I saw this in a book as a shortened version of Rachel, but I'm not too keen on Rachel, so I chose the shortened version)
Morgan
Rashel
Kimberly
Calleigh

Boys
Jason (Blame Power Rangers for this *rolls eyes* Sad, I know)
Zachary/Zachery
Darcy
Danny (Not Daniel, just Danny)
Hunter (Book again. Actually, a British character in an American Based book.)
Ash
Quinn

Aaaaand that's all I can think off at the moment. This comm is quite handy for me, because I'm a writer, and I need a good list of names to pick for characters. :D

What book did you see the name Rai in? It's my friend's name and I'm sure she'd be interested as it's so unusual.

I really like Quinn. In fact, it's one of our top picks, either for a boy or a girl, for our baby due in October. :)

I've heard that as a really popular boys name recently and just had two friends name their babies out of (either sex) so yeah it's really nice to me too :)

I feel the same way about the names Kimberly, Zachary and Jason for the same reason as you. Go Power Rangers Go!

That show also endeared me to Billy and Adam... though I loathe the name Tommy for some reason...

My name is Rachel, and I've shortened it to Rae with an e instead of an i.

it works :)

Not to rain on your parade, but I know two Kariannes. ;)

I don't like unisex names as a rule, but I do love Jamie for a boy. Only as a nickname for James, though. Jamie wouldn't seem right on an old man.

The only girls' name on your list that I like is Kimberly. I like Morgan for a boy, but again with the unisex thing.

I like most of your boys' names.

My sister's name is Rachel Angelene, but everyone calls her Rach except for me. Rach bugs the hell outta me, so Ray it is.

My sister just named my niece " quinn " but she spelt it. " quinne "
I think the E makes it more feminine.
