My Top Ten... +
May. 1st, 2007 02:59 pmTop ten names I like well enough to give them to my own children:
Boys:
1) Noah
2) William, nn Will (not Willy, makes me think of a wet willy or even a penis, def. NOT Bill b/c it's too hillbilly)
3) Jack
4) Robert, nn Rob or Robby (NOT Bob b/c it's too hillbilly)
5) Samuel, nn Sam (not Sammy, that sounds feminine, like it comes from Samantha)
6) Jacob, nn Jake
7) Maximillian, nn Max
8) Benjamin, nn Ben
9) Zachary, nn Zach
10) Adam
Girls:
1) Sophia, nn Sophie
2) Lorelai, nn Lora
3) Analise, nn Anna
4) Emily, nn Emma
5) Rebecca, nn Becca
6) Chaeli (pronounced Chay-lee)...(It's Gaelic, not made up or cre8tive or whatever)
7) Lynlee
8) Victoria, nn Tori (NOT Vikki, I hate how that sounds, possibly because of Fairly Oddparents... haha)
9) Hannah
10) Breanna
I also really like _, but can't use it because _:
-Abigail (nn Abbie), because it's my sister's name.
-Sylvia, because it's a friend of mine's daughter's name.
-names with the nn Katie, I love it but I have a million friends with that name
-Megan, because it's too close to my name, it would be like naming her after myself, esp. since some people call me Meg
-Nicole and Samantha, I love both of those names whole, but I don't like any nicknames they would surely get
Obviously my taste is *mostly* older, tradition and traditionally spelled names. I'm not a fan of names that can be for either sex, or names that are meant for one sex used on the other... Well, I won't list off other things I don't like, because it might offend people who do like those.
