My obession with names.
May. 1st, 2007 09:58 amChildren may or may not be in the future, however I love to name things. I'll make up stories (That I will never finish) Just to give life to a name meaning.
I've always had a fascination with a few names, and I always tried to put my two cents in when Co-Workers would have children.
I saw a post about Family naming traditions, and I figured I would share the one my family is in the works of making. My mother had 8 siblings, 5 females and 4 males. Only one of the boys got married and had a son, but other than that the women had children in this order.
1st Daughter: 3 boys
2nd Daughter: 3 Girls
3rd Daughter: 1 Girl then 1 Boy
4th Daughter: 1 Girl then 1 Boy
5th Daughter: No Children.
So far all of the children that my cousins have had naturally (Not counting children from their spouses other marriages) have all been female. The 3 girls from my the Second Daughter have named their children like this.
They take part of their name, Tracey for example, and part of their Husband's name, Joseph, smash it together and give them the Mother's Middle Name. Coming up with, Josey Virgina. (Pronounced Joe-Cee, though often mistakend for Josie.)
The middle sister was the next to have a baby, so using the nameing scheme above of Heather + Kevin = Heavin Elu-Marie. They varied abit, because they both wanted her to have a native American name, but also wanted something that would be easy on the tongue for her school years.
Now of course, all eyes are on the Youngest of that Trio, who is soon to be married in August. However I have no idea how they'll combine Shannon and Richard. Then again, most of us are hoping that they have a boy!
Though I may not be having children anytime soon, my Cat should be having a litter of her own. So that should feed my overwhelming need to name things!
