(no subject)

Hi there...I am 6 months pregnant and we are not finding the baby's sex out. I have played with the idea of a few names, but I'm particularly having trouble finding boys names I like. Our first son is Jayden Joshua. I like names that aren't incredibly popular, as my name is Amanda and I went all through school known as "Amanda P." I also don't want something so out there that my kid will get teased.
Some girl names I like are:

Layla
Eliza
Dusty (I have many people trying to talk me out of this one)

and for boys:

Jared (little too common though)
Anden (Andy for short)

Anyone have suggestions for me pleeeease? ;)

We're going with Layla if it's a girl, so I'm biased for that one. ;)

Jared is okay... but it makes me think of the Subway guy. ;)

dusty is for a girl, not a boy =\

I agree with not naming your kid Dusty. Especially a girl. Layla and Eliza are nice, I'd go with Eliza though if you're looking for something not too popular.

Since your son's name is Jayden, I wouldn't go with Anden...too many "den" sounds.

I can't really help I'm still having problems with Boy names.

My picks are Layla and Jared.

Layla, Eliza, Jaren, Anden "Andy" are all good.

Can't say I care for Dusty at all either. The name projects nothing feminine imo, and nothing too classy either. (sorry)

i equate dusty with a nickname for justine or justin. and the singer dusty springfield. layla is te best of the ones you've listed so far though for a girl, eliza is also good. anden is cute...

I love Dusty. I don't know why. I think its really pretty. I think the rest of your names are either too popular or too flash-in-the-pan. I get your taste though, and I do like Eliza but I always thought Elija was pretty for a girls name.

What about looking for a name that Dusty could be a nickname for?

I fear that Layla is becoming a pretty faddish name. Eliza is kinda cute. I don't really like any of the boy names you listed... sorry!

amen on the Layla

I'm an AManda too, so I'm on the exact same page as you. There were always at least two other Amanda's in all of my classes and even my step sister's name was Amanda so we had to go by our first AND middle name, and that was only around the HOUSE! Gah!

My husband's name is Andrew, which is also a fairly common name, so needless to say, we like names that are "off the beaten path." Let's just hope the names we choose won't turn into an Aidan or Kylie and skyrocket after we name our children.

Good luck!

PS~ I just peeked at your user info and saw that you live in Niagara Falls...which is where we went on out honeymoon...LOL. I just thought it was amusing that you referred to is as "living in the biggest tourist trap."

I have a friend (a girl) named Dusty and I've always loved that name!

Layla is a nice name. I can't say I like Dusty though; it sounds like a false name for a country and western singer.

the only way i can get my point across is by swearing, so bear with me:

Dusty is fucking adorable. I like it.

I really like Layla but since all of your girl names end in 'a' they couldn't really be used as combinations of each other
how about:

Dusty Scarlett
Dusty Lenore (luh-nore)
Dusty Simone
Dusty Clementine

Layla Jane
Layla Cyrene (sigh-rene)
Layla Tatum

boys i only like jared.

I went to school with a girl named Dustie. She was really pretty and really popular. She never got made fun of about her name. I think it's a cute name. I personally like Dustie Raeanne. I also think Layla is cute but I don't like Eliza.

Jared is ok. But if your first son is Jayden Joshua, then that's a lot of J's (in my opinion). I think Anden is cute and more original.

I definitely am not a fan of Dusty for a girl [I went to school with a girl named Rusty and she always got teased].. but how about Dustin for a boy? I've only know 1 Dustin in all my years of living =)

Or since Jared is common, maybe Jarrett for a boy?

I love the name Eliza =)
