well i am unlikely to become pregnant any time soon, but i love names.  i have a couple of names i really like for girls and boys:

Girls:

Johanna - after my favourite Bob Dylan song called Visions of Johanna.  It means "god is gracious", and even though i'm not religious i really love the sound of the name.

Alba - another great sound, it means "white", "pure", "light" etc

Margarita - a spanish/russian name meaning "pearl" which sounds fantastic to say, but as it's also a cocktail i could probably never actually call a child that!


Boys:

Henry - i think it just means "ruler" but not certain!  I think it sounds really comforting, but also unusual - it's a name that's old enough to have come around in a circle to be quite trendy again!

Hal - actually diminutive form of Henry, but i have always liked it!

William - after my dad and Shakespeare both, and can be handily shortened to Will!

i would have to go with jo-HANN-a to stay faithful to the song :0) it sounds slightly unusual without being as far out as yo-HONN-a, which is a little too crazy for my taste! wow, have never met a Johanna before :0)

Yeah, believe it or not, I get called Yohonna every now and then. I'm like, "We're not in Norway, pal." hehe.

I actually got called Yohan allllll throughout high school because my science teacher, the first day of class, called me Yohan. (My name was too long for the attendance sheet, so it got cut off at Johan.)

haha, such is life! yeah my sirname is a bitch to pronounce so i usually let people make what they will of it cos it's usually entertaining for me and anyone listening. nickname-o-rama when i was at school!

I used to work with this girl whose name no one could pronounce, it was M-something and we all just called her Margarita.

I think it's actually a fun name.

i have a three week old nephew named Henry. I wasn't a fan of it at first, but it's grown on me. I love the name Johanna, too.

oh no, why not? i think it sounds beautiful and lively - it begins so softly with the "maaar" and then snaps up short with the "R" and the "T"! it feels great to say :0) i'm sorry you don't like it!
