My mother-in-law has convinced my husband that we should have at least three names for each sex picked out when we head to L and D in November. So far, we're still only in the planning stages although we have settled on two definites: Meredith will be the girl's middle name (after my grandmother's maiden name) and some aspect of William will be incorporated into the boy's name (after my grandfather, greatgrandfather and uncle--there's no son to really carry on this "traditional" family name so we decided to take up the mantle). Our choices so far are (in order of preference):

Boys (2): Gracian William Parker, Liam Connor Parker. I prefer Gracian because I feel like it is more original but Liam is also something I would love to use to because of familial significance.

Girls (3): Cordelia Meredith Parker, Aurelia Meredith Parker, Annabella Meredith Parker. My favorite name is Annabella, *but* a coworker of both mine and my husband's named their daughter Annabella (she's now four). I had no idea what his daughter's name was until I was suggesting name choices at work, but now my husband believes it would be in bad taste to name her Annabella. What do you think?

When I read Gracian William Parker, I fell in love with it. lol I'd definately go with that. Liam is a bit popular, but not too popular, ya know?

I like Annabeled Meredith, too. So what if someone has a daughter with that name? It's cute, though. I don't think it'd leave a bad taste to name her that. Unless the coworker is really dirty and not worth naming you kid after theirs.

I like Liam personally. :)

My hubby and I chose Aurelia ages ago...but we're worried that people would pronouce it wrong (like Orillia), so we're still considering other names. :)

I love Liam, it's my son's middle name :) As for the coworker, they come and go, chances are you won't be around these people the rest of your lives, so what if you have kids the same name?

Gracian William -- I admit I don't know how to say this. grah-cee-an? grace-ee-an? gray-chun? With Grace being so HUGELY popular for girls, it doesn't really do much for me.

Liam Connor -- Very Irish sounding, but cute.

Cordelia Meredith -- Nice

Aurelia Meredith -- This was on of my best friend's top choices if she had a girl. I hear "oral" and don't care for it much myself.

Annabella -- I love the name Annabel. Annabella is just a bit too frilly imo, but still nice. It's my favorite of the three.

Actually Meredith is my favorite of the girl names -- great name that everyone knows but it isn't common at all, easy to spell, easy to say, nice sound... love it.

Good luck!

Oh, I wouldn't be too concered about the coworker thing. Did you mention that it was one of your choices when the subject came up? I think if you're just upfront with the coworker they shouldn't care too much.

Don't worry about the coworker thing. If you like a name, use it!! It's your kid, after all.

I agree with the above comments re: Gracian - I like Liam better. I also love the name Meredith and think that Annabella Meredith is lovely and the best of the names on your list.

I love names that aren't Michael or Jennifer, but please remember that nicknames and spelling will play in too.

A boy named Grace? hmmm...
