[identity profile] silveroonmyst.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

My husband and i really like the name Conner for our upcoming son. And Alexander sounds really good with Conner. Anyway if we were to use the name Conner Alexander, his initals would be C A P. While we were thinking of going Alexander Conner, it dosent ring well to me.
Anyway do you guys thing that the initals CAP would be terribly bad? A first we were going with 2 middle names untill i wrote it down and realized that the inialts were REALLY bad. Conner Rowan Alexander P spells C R A P which DOSENT go. But is C A P risky?
I just like the name, and Alexander afterwords flows nicely.

I don't understand why people worry about initials to begin with, anyway. If it were ASS I still don't think it would matter.

That said, CAP is fine, and I like the name.

I liked that my initials spelled out a word; SIR, even though I'm a girl. CAP is no big deal

I think initials only usually matter if it spells out something reallly funny you know?

My initials are LAP and nothing bad ever came of it. Actually, nothing at all came of it. So I don't think CAP will do anything either.

Nah, I can't imagine a kid getting teased for it, since caps are really neutral things. Connor Alexander P. sounds nice.

My future son will have the intials JAM if we use the name we've picked. I don't think JAM and CAP are really bad at all. CRAP would suck, though.

I honestly don't understand the big deal about initials (except if they spell something like "crap"- that's just mean) - but if they spell something like "cap", that's not a big deal at all. how many people really use their initials? my initials spell a word, but I've never been affected by it or really noticed it.

I personally wouldn't worry about it, it sounds great :)

CRAP is terrible... CAP is nothing. I mean yeah it's this fabric thing that you wear on your head but there's nothing wrong with that!

Hope you don't mind me commenting where you didn't ask for any opinion, but I very much prefer the spelling Connor. Mostly because it looks nicer to me, I think it is probably the original spelling, and because "conner" looks like a word (one who cons) as opposed to Connor being a name. But of course you should go with what you like especially since there are much worse spellings possible than Conner!

On the whole I don't think of the initial thing as being a big deal. And certainly not CAP. There is one combination that I would be careful of myself and that is using a first name with an A and a middle name with an S. If it were a boy, I would, as long as the child's last name did not begin with an S, therefore making ASS. For a girl I would NEVER use an A name with an S middle name, for what if she married someone with an S last name. As for any other combinations, as long as it dosn't spell something vulgar I'm alright with it. I'm not really worried about more than three letters, because I personally would only give my child a first name and one middle name. But if you are giving multiple names, I would be wary of FUCK AND SHIT and the like. Otherwise, I don't really think of initials too much

It's actually meant to be good luck for a child's initials to spell a word.
