before we found out this is a girlie, i was pushing for elliott for a boy. only recently have i started appreciating it as a girl's name. i think it's best spelled eliot for a gir but i prefer elliott for a boy.

i don't think my fh will allow it though since i'm a HUGE elliott smith fan. he says we may as well name it kurt cobain if it's after a dead musician. pooper.

in terms of phonetics, spelling it with only one L would make it pronounced with a long/hard E sound, which would be wrong. the T options are purely a matter of personal preference.
