Middle names?
Mar. 2nd, 2007 02:05 amMy favorite girls' names are Sophia (which means "wisdom") and Nadia (which means "hope"). If I could only have one little girl, I'd name her Sophia Nadine (Nadine meaning the same thing as Nadia).
But, let's assume I'll have two- what are some good middle names for Sophia and/or Nadia? Keep in mind that I like names with good meanings, i.e. I probably wouldn't use "Marie" because it means "bitterness".
Thanks!

I also like (instead of Sophia) the variant Sonia.
Some info you may not have:
Sophia is a common name that comes from the Greek word σοφία, and its older form sophos (σοφος), meaning ("wisdom"), that may refer to:
* Sophia (gnosticism), a gnostic deity
* Pistis Sophia, the gnostic text
* An important theme in the intertestamental Jewish writing, Sirach (Ben Sirach). In this book wisdom comes from the Torah.
Nadia originates from Arabic, from the Qur'an. It was first used as a name in the Muslim world and later in the Western world. The meaning of this word in Arabic is "the caller" or "the announcer" or "the first dawn on a flower." In Europe, it can stand for "hope," and "pretty." being a diminutive of the Russian name Надежда (Nadezhda) with that meaning. "Nadine" is a French form of this diminutive. This name is also very popular in the middle east.
