The first name of one of my female professors is Colclough. She pronounces it sort of like "COKE-lee". It looks Irish or Gaelic to me, but I haven't been able to find out. What do you think? I like it.

Oooh I really like that. I'd like a different spelling though as I think that'd be too hard on a child. Teachers would look at that and be all, "WTF is this kid's name??"

Although I don't know how else to spell it without it looking totally kreatif or yoonique

seeing colclough makes me think "coll-cluff." hearing coke-lee would make me think of cochlea (you know, in the ear).

There are other words like that. I know that some might mispronounce it call-oh-nell, but I thought you were saying you've actually heard other pronunciations for it.

It used to be a bitch for me in American History.. the words colony and colonel popped up a bit. :)
