82.35 percent of people with the first name Jordan are male. I thought this was very interesting...seeing as this is my name and I am a girl. I know it is a unisex name..but never would I have thought it was that percentage!!

I think that is the Michael Jordon effect.

All I know is I heard of a lot of babies being born in the early 90's with that name and I just assumed it was because Michael Jordon was insanely popular. I am a bit older then you so I recall the madness too well.

We haven't decided yet. Maybe Alanna or Abrielle. Middle name is going to be Mae after Grandma. It's hard coming up with the right name!

I've always considered it more of a boys name myself, though I think that it's legitimately unisex. So I can't say I'm really surprised, I've known more male Jordans.

I must admit, I prefer Jordana anyway.

I like the name on both, but personally, I think it's better on a boy. That statistic doesn't surpsise me since most of the Jordans I know are boys. But I do likt it on girls also.

I'd say re-look at that stat in ten years. Jordan hasn't always been huge on girls, at one time it WASN'T a unisex name. Now there are loads of girl Jordans. I graduated hs with one, but she was an exception. You are also an exception. I lump it in with names like Taylor... they're now becoming quite popular on girls, but years ago they weren't at all.

hmmm. maybe. My husband has so far vetoed all names that have lynn in them. I kinda like them because my middle name is lynn so it's a way to use that in her name without it being the middle name since we want that to be after my mom.

One of my old best friends name was Jordan and she was a girl, though I have known a guy named Jordan. Too me it's a unisex name. I can imigine on both a guy or a girl.

That doesn't surprise me, actually. I've met one or two girl Jordans before, but I usually think of it as a masculine name.

I always thought of it as a boy's name, and the only one I ever knew was a guy. I don't DISlike it for a girl, though.
