...that when you are planning for naming a baby, you can easily come up with 6+ names for each sex... but when you're actually naming a baby, you can't even come up with one!?
I know I know! It's such a big deal, that's your baby's name forever. It has to be perfect. For instance, I aldore the name Amelia but it's so popular in England, could I really use it? i don't know. I love Ophelia but can i seriously see myself using that as a name? dunno... Evie is another favourite but it seems too nicknamey for a real baby and i'm not 100% sold on Evelyn.
So much difference between favourite names and real baby names. Are you struggling!?
It took my husband and I nearly six months, and we've only narrowed it down. We've been through literally hundreds of names one or the other would absolutely hate. It's a good thing we're having a girl, because we still can't agree on a boys name AT ALL.
well, this is our third. I used up my good girls name and my good boys name.. and now everything else on my lists doesn't seem right... a lot of it did get kicked off due to popularity. my husband's still trying to get me sold on Lydia.. I like it and all, but it's, you know, the name of my grampa's sister, who hates the world and everyone in it, especially children. my husband can't grasp why I don't want to use the name...
Evelyn is the middle name of my daughter. picked after my grama, though, not for aesthetic reasons.
we had a girls name leftover from my last pregnancy, (what my son would have been called...) but we pitched it halfway through this pregnancy. then the other day I started to like it again, maybe even more than the name we will probably actually use. my husband yelled at me for even saying that. :P
boys names, holy cow. we've been through hundreds.. and we're not finding out until the birth, so we need both!
our probelms is hardly tha tone or the other hates them.. we can't even come up with names one of us likes let alone both of us! and whenwe finally "picked".. we spent the next few months second guessing... and still are.
I know!!! I have 8 weeks left and am still at a complete lost for middle names...brainstorming is one thing, but seeing the name appear on a birth certificate is something different all together!!
Oh I know what you mean! When we were still TTC, I had a list of like 20+ names. Now my list has dwindled to less than 10. I'm not sure if I'm just really picky or what.
I think I could come up with one or more girls names that I like as much as my daughter's, but I am so in love with my son's name that there's pretty much nothing that will ever match up. thus, this time, girls names were a bit easier for us, but boys were nearly impossible!

I do like Lydia a lot, mostly because of Pride & Prejudice. I do think 'lid' and toilet lid springs to mind though.
