May. 10th, 2005 03:25 pmOk, I'm 11 weeks pregnant and going crazy trying to think of names.
I think I've settled on Gracie Lucille for a girl. My boyfriend isn't so fond of it, but he doesn't have any of his own suggestions, so I think he can eventually be persueded to go with mine...LOL And I'm pretty set on Lucille because that's my great grandma's name and it would mean a lot to her.
I've been having a lot of trouble with boy names, though! And I'm really afraid that it's going to be a boy, so I should get on the ball. I woke up in the middle of the night last night and thought "Dylan Thomas." As Thomas is my boyfriend's name, and his dad's name, this will probably go over pretty well with him. I don't know though, is naming your kid after a poet a bit too much? I'm at least going to mention it around and keep a poll of how many people get the reference. :P
So...Opinions?

Date: 2005-05-10 01:52 pm (UTC)I don't particularly like Gracie as a given name. I think Grace is nicer, and Gracie could be used as a nickname. I don't know if she'll wanna be called Gracie when she's an adult, ya know? And with Grace as a given name, she could use either, whereas if your name was Gracie, you probably couldn't really get people to call you Grace. I think.

Date: 2005-05-10 03:35 pm (UTC)I agree with the above post that Grace Lucille might be a preferable first name... Gracie is adorable, but names that end in "ie" don't necessarily grow up with the child... what if she becomes a lawyer or a doctor? Would Gracie be a strong name for her as an adult?
But whatever you decide - great names!

Date: 2005-05-10 05:24 pm (UTC)Rosalie, Izzie, Georgie, Devi, Audrey or Audrie, Tansie, Finley, Paisley, Shandi, Rawnie, Jolie, Cauverie, Bettie! (cute old-school)
and I don't like the name Dylan, either, but I really like putting Dylan Thomas as the first and middle name. Cute way to pay homage.

Date: 2005-05-10 08:18 pm (UTC)I would never think of Dylan on its own, but Dylan Thomas is a famous British poet, which is why the names went together...lol
