I work at a retail store, and yesterday a woman in my line kept saying, "Peyton, can you run back and get me another one of these? Peyton this. Peyton that." So finally I see Peyton, and it's a little GIRL. So casually I'm like, "Peyton, how do you spell that?"

Paiton.

I really didn't even like that name to begin with.

Also, the Hayden/Jayden/Brayden trend is hitting the American bases here hard, and I saw one of these victims yesterday (Hayden). He was probably 7, and the thing was, he looks like he'll probably grow up to play guitar and think he's tough and wear hxc t-shirts and paint his nails black (he just had this look), and he'll have the name Hayden. It doesn't seem right to me. Then again, what stereotypical teen would any of those names work on?

I saw Peyton spelled Payton the other day an assumed it was for a girl, but it was for a boy. I found that odd.

I don't particularly HATE this name, so I don't really care if it's for a girl or for a boy.

Though, I think it's best on a boy.

Speaking of the name Hayden...I met a boy named Haiden. I don't like the name at all, but I hate it spelled like that even worse.

For me, Peyton sounds like a girl name, but I don't like it either way.

I see Peyton as a boy and HATE it on girls...then again I hate the naming girls boy name trend anyway

I like it better for a girl than for a boy. I don't mind the spelling, but I prefer Peyton.

Hayden to me is either the tough guy you described actually, or a prep. Very different, I know, lol.

Jayden is white trashy - so a white trashy kid, lol. Brayden is very Harvard to me lol

Im from Australia, and I guess names sound different here. Ive never known anyone called Peyton, I think it really is an American name. Im assuming that because Ive never actually known anyone with that name it has always sounded kind of odd to me.

In terms of Jayden/Brayden and names like that. It seems that in Australia only scummy feral Mums give their children those types of names. I guess thats a generalisation, but it does seem to be true. Its weird how name trends work in different countries.

I like Peyton for a girl, but I think I'd rather it spelled Payton. Not too different from the traditional spelling, and to me it looks less weird than Peyton.

And I absolutely love Hayden, and I'd totally use it for a middle name if it wasn't for the fact that my future last name will start with an H, and that's a no-no for me.

The Haydens/Braydens etc. that I've ever known or heard of have been teens... to me these names "work" well for this stage of life. Maybe because all of those names (including Peyton, who on the show is a girl) are on the WB, or CW, or whatever they're calling it these days (teen-oriented television network for those who either don't live in the US or don't watch that much tv). Now, when they hit ninety, it might be a little weird...

my little brother is 9, and named hayden. he was named that before the -den craze, it's a family name. i like it, and it's perfect for him, it just sucks that it's getting so popular.

I've only heard of Peyton as a girls' name. It's hideous though.

I'm in Brisbane and when I worked at a kindy last year, there was a Jayden, Kayden, Brayden and Hayden... so unfortunately it has reached Australia.. this was in a middle to upper class sort of area too.

I still haven't met an Australian Nevaeh though thankfully!
