what do you think about taking common names and spelling them differently?

one of my best friends is named aishliee mahryee and while i like how the name looks i can help but think how rediculous it is. she also has four older brothers named nykolas jayms, anndryw jihonn, evyn scot and wiate danyle. all four of them however have changed the spelling of their names back to the traditional spelling.

All I can say is I'm glad the kids had the sense to change their names. I'm sorry, but those spellings hurt my eyes. Expecially Wyatt's dismemberment... ::tears up a little::

Erm, so as I was saying... I really, really, really don't like Kry8tyyv3 spellings like that. I think it's a silly way to try and be original and a headache to everyone involved.

Horrid spelling aside, the names are lovely with the traditional spellings.

I mean this in the least offensive way possible, but I think the Kr8tyve names in general make the parents look like the have a learning disorder, and when all the kids names are spelt like the alphabet threw up, it makes me think so without a doubt.

They are all nice names if you just have to hear them and not see them though.

I don't understand this trend. If you want to name your kids something "different", why not pick an a name that is truly unusual or unique on its own terms instead of just distorting a common name past all recognition?

These sorts of name spellings are fab for someone who wants to be a circus clown: they're guaranteed to have people rolling in the aisles.

For people who want to be seen as (relatively) intelligent, literate people? Not so much.

Creativity, to an extent, is fine. These names are awful. I really hope nobody actually named their kids those names and that this is just a joke. Though I'm sure there are people who've done that. Poor kids. :/

It looks like mommy and daddy couldn't spell. And since her name is still pronounced Ashley Marie, it's just a big pain int he ass every time she tells someone her name.

I think it's possibly the dumbest thing you could do to your child.

I'm not talking about the difference between like Eric and Erik, which are both acceptable spellings. I'm talking about completely butchering the names. Aishliee doesn't even look like it ought to be pronounced the proper way. It looks like Aysh-lie-ee instead of Ahsh-lee.

Reminds me of people who purposefully misspell things, "Lyk" "Tru" etc., like they're trying too hard. A girlfriend of mine spelled her daughter's name "Luci" and while I think that's cute and not as horrible as "Anndryw" (WTF?)since Luci originally comes from Lucille anyway, I like the original "Lucy" better. "Aishlee" is like adding an accent, ew.

If they are underage, as long as they get parents' consent, they can change their names.

aishliee is the youngest one and shes 18. all of the boys are older so yes they are of legal age.
