Hi. I'm new here. Yup, not pregnant yet but are in the process of practicing. I have always had a fascination with names. Bought my first baby name book in 8th grade...Mom had fun explaining that book to the teachers! Hahaha

Anyway...we are 100% sure we are going to name a future son Calvin Emory and going to call him "Vinnie" as a nickname. As for a girl, we were planning on Destiny Lorraine, but I don't much care for the name Destiny anymore (I think every 3rd newborn baby girl in this area is named "Destiny" something-or-other). Anyway, I am liking the name Elisabeth Hope now.

Problem is finding a nickname. I've pretty much ruled out every nickname there is out there.
Lisa is too common.
Liz is just...well, reminds me of lez. (sorry, it does)
Lizzie...Borden or McGuire. Eeew @ both
Betty...too old lady.
Betsy...again, too old lady.
Beth...too common.
Ella (or Ellie)...phant.

Can anyone think of anything else that might be used as a nickname?

FYI...I do have 3 children. Cassandra Lynn, Christopher James and Samantha Kathryn. Hmmm, maybe I'll start looking into the "S" names.....

I love the name Elisabeth Hope! Very pretty.
I wanted to name on 'baby in my tummy' Faith Elisabeth but my fiance hated it for some weird reason. However, I do like it and it has a good ring to it!

Welcome to the community by the way and good luck on your 4th baby! :D

Lissa or Lyssa if you don't mind the variations in spelling from the name.

My friend Elizabeth goes by Elle, I think that's a cute nickname.

I like Elle personally. Lissa is very pretty too, except I have some horrible personal association with it so it's ruined for me, but not for you!

I was going to say that. When I was younger I hated my name, (Ariel, I don't know why I hated it then.) and I wanted to be called Libby. (my middle name is Elizabeth.) But it never caught on, and no one ever really called me that...

Libby is a good nickname for Elisabeth. And much less common than Lizzie and Beth, etc.
