I'm a big fan of the name Xander (it's actually on my list) but I prefer it as a nickname for Alexander. I don't mind Douglas, but it's a bit old-fashioned. I mean, you don't meet many young boys called Douglas. If you like it, though, it's fine with Xander (or Alexander)! Congratulations on having twins, too. I'm a twin and it's the best.

but if you really like that name, who am i to judge? if i were you i'd name him alexander..you know just in case when he's older he agrees with me and is free to pick a different nickname. Like my friend Eliza, whose mother almost named her just Betsy.

I third Alexander Douglas...I think it would be a more fitting name, and nicknames come easily with a name like that.

I agree that Xander is a shortened version of Alexander - it sounds wrong as a nme in itself. I don't like Douglas much.

I like Xander. I like it as a nn for Alexander (it's much better than Alex) and I like it as a stand alone name. I'm not a big fan of Douglas, but there are much worse names.

I HATE the name Xander. At least name him Alexander. I don't think people realize that X does not make a Z sound! The name Alexander is prn Alex-ander, not Alex-zander. So I don't see how Xander = Zander.

It isn't the most terrible thing I've heard. Alexander Douglas would sound more complete, flow better, and be more formal if he ever needed it.
