do you prefer taylor for a boy or a girl, and why?

On a boy. Probably because I heard it on boys before I ever heard it on girls. And I've know a few guys named Taylor, I've never actually known a girl with that name.

Prefer it on a guy because it seems masculine to me, but the only Taylor I've known has been a girl so it doesn't bother me on girls.

My best friend of like 18 years' last name is Taylor so it seems more like a last name to me... I guess for a first name it sounds more like a boy but it may be because of the friend who is a boy. It would sound kinda stuffy for a girl I think. Kinda along the same lines as Tiffany or Mackenzie.

On a girl it sounds so young and cutesy, but at the same time masculine, to me. I definitely prefer it on a boy.

I'm bored with the name Taylor in general. It's SO overused. I know of 2 little girls named Taylor, no boys. I like it better for a boy.

I'm pretty neutral to what gender it's on, as I've known both a male and female Taylor. I can't say I really like it on either that much... maybe I just don't like the name.

On a boy because it's my 10 year old cousin's name and he's a boy.

doesn't really matter, becase you don't really pick your last name, you get stuck with it. *shrugs*

I like it better as a boys name, but of all the Taylors I've met in my 19 years 1 has been male and about 10 have been girls, so it's pretty much become a girls name in my head. It's a shame, though, because I think it looks better on a boy.

I see it more as a boy name. It's a little too masculine on a girl.

I think it's cute on both, but I definitely prefer it for a boy.

Although they are entirely separate names, I've always seen it as this:

Taylor - Girl.
Tyler - Boy.

Even though I know Taylor/Tyler of both sexes, haha. Oh well.

Either way it seems like a cutesy name that doesnt age well to me. I dont like it for a boy because it sounds too little girl cutesy when they're an adult, and likewise I dont like it on a girl because it sounds too masculine. There arent really very many names that tear my brain apart like that one does. Bailey is the only other one I can think of.

I don't like that name, period, but I definitely think it's become a girl's name only. Kind of like Jordan or Morgan or Riley--those are boys' names that became so overused as girls' names that, now, it doesn't seem like a boy's name at all.

Girl.

I 've never known a Taylor in my life that's been a guy, plus it's just one of those names to me you could never imagine it on a male or a female, like Ryan or James.

don't listen to anybody who said they like it better for a boy because it started out as a boy name. that's stupid. ashley. jordan. leigh. morgan. taylor.
just because you're best friend is a boy named taylor doesn't mean it's better for a boy.
my best (girl) friend's name is ryan.
ok everybody. don't name your son ryan because i'm going to think of bffffz who's a fashion designer in nyc and heaven forbid people think your little tyke is a pansy!!!

I hate the name for everyone, but it's (to me) traditionally a male name.

I doubt that. I've met a female Ryan and I thought it was hideous.
