Dec. 11th, 2006 06:15 pmthis sucks. I found out a few days ago the Sebastian is on the top 100 boys list for names......as much as I love the name it really friggin kills me knowing that. Someone in pregnant posted like 3 days ago that they named their wee one seb. so now I am totally confused as to what I wanna do. be like eff everyone imma still do it or change my mind. I am loving the names Israel and Judah for first names. I like Sullivan for a MN since we can call him sully as a NN and I sorta love that. My husband loves Padric but I do not want people calling my child paddy. help me people. look at my baby names tag and help me. I am open to any suggestions, they don't have to be on the list. My first son is Morgan Malachy Alastair Carroll and we want 2 middle names for this little guy as well.

Date: 2006-12-12 12:18 am (UTC)I'm not a fan of double middle names, so it's hard for me to think of a 2nd one that sounds good to my ears. :]

Date: 2006-12-12 12:25 am (UTC)Elisha sounds like a female name to me, even if it isn't.
I think Miles Oliver Sullivan sounds great, or Oliver Miles. Also Miles Elliot or Miles Sullivan.

Date: 2006-12-12 12:48 am (UTC)But if you love Sebastian, go for it. As you get past the top 30 in boys names, their frequency goes down SIGNIFICANTLY.
I just wanted to throw out the fact that CASTOR is 'beaver' in french too.

Date: 2006-12-12 01:07 am (UTC)Is Padraic pronounced just like Patrick where you are? I've actually only ever heard it said like this, on this Irish names site (http://www.babynamesofireland.com/pages/boy-names-o-z.html). It sounds like there may be some variation even in Ireland, though.

I don't personally care for Archimedes, Castor or Theodore so I'm having a hard time putting them with the other names and I like Alaric but am having a hard time with that fitting in syllable-wise for some reason.
and it also occured to me that when Sullivan is put as the second middle name it almost makes it sound like "Sullivan-Carroll" is his double last name instead. (a little bit with Deacon too). I don't know if that bothers you or not.
overall, I think you have good solid choices. and I really like Sebastian too and I feel like it's one of those classic names that even were it to get a bit more popular, it's not trendy popular like Jacob or Aidan where it's like so, Teh Name to use.
good luck. and since I saw you say that you were due Dec 1 I hope you get to meet "what's-his-name" soon. ;p

I've really, really liked Sullivan for a long time. I would use it, but there are quite a few businesses in our area that are named Sullivan something-or-another. I don't know, that sort of turned me off.
I am sort of in the same boat as you- wanting a name that is not super popular, but finding my favorites creeping up in popularity.
Good luck!
