On Scrubs tonight...

Turk and Carla had their baby. It was a girl and they named her Isabella.

*yawn*

Apparently there was a poll for viewers to vote. I never saw it though, and didn't get to vote against Isabella. Anyone know what the other choices were?

Cartur-7%
Curk-4%
Isabella-33%
Jasmine-12%
Kirk-6
Olivia-12%
Ricky-3%
Tarla-3%
Tula-4%
Turla-17%

It seems that by picking the name, they also picked the sex of the baby. Those are not great choices overall IMO.

Almost sounds like you're going to say "terlet" as in toilet

I actually like Isabella. Very classy name.

I don't watch the shows but it looks like a bunch of combos of Carla and Turk.

I agree. I like Jasmine a lot more.. but Isabella is a decent name. At least they didn't name it something uber u-neek.

I was a bit surprised at the name, but after seeing the choices I would've voted for Isabella too!

And that was the biggest "newborn" I've ever seen!

I liked the name...and now that I see what the other choices were, I think the producers wanted Isabella from the start!

Ugh, if those were the real choices I'm just happy the kid didn't end up Curk Turk. *shudders*

Not to mention, doesn't Carla usually call him Chris?

Eh. It's too popular and frilly for my tastes, but it's not awful. Plus it's a Spanish name, so that kind of works for Carla's kid. (I have a friend whose husband is part-Hispanic, and they chose Angelina Isabel for that reason.)

I like Isabella but... snooore. It's so overused that I'm sick of it.

A little off topic...

I didn't care so much about the name. What made me mad was when they were all "oh no! the cord is around her neck! She had to be taken to NICU!" Being born with the cord around your neck is not a big deal. I was also mad at how quickly and pretty much without reason they decided to give Carla a c-section.

Yeah, I realized after I commented that you probably just meant why were they making those ridiculous options. Sorry. LoL

I have no idea. I've never watched the show, I just looked up the choices because I was curious.

They usually are. Who wants their brand new baby being exposed to the world on television? Not many people, I guess.

Usually not, but that doesn't mean something couldn't have gone wrong. Anyway, i didn't watch the episode so I don't know what the exact circumstances were... not to mention it's just a TV sitcom.

But yeah sometimes medical stuff on shows pisses me off too, I just try to let it slide. =D

Supposed to be jokes. That's why :)

Well...normally Isabella isn't my favourite name for sure, but in this case I like it...sorta. BTW people who are complaining about the top ten names, it was supposed to be a joke because Scrubs is a sitcom, and they were just being funny.

They took their cue from ER, where, because the surrogate mother refused a c-section, and had the baby breech, it was brain-damaged, and the biological parents left it.

Ok, i doubt thats why, but for the sake fo scrubs (which I have honestly never watched), that is my reason. ;)

But for the reason above, and what they did to Gallant last season (while my OWN soldier was deployed no less!!), I am sufficiently upset with ER. :/

I was pretty mad about Gallant too. After that opening sequence I called my mom and she answered on the first ring with, "what the HELL was that!?" It was just horrible.

I don't think I saw the one with the surrogate mother but that sounds horrible also. TV shows are giving people some pretty messed up information about birth.

I usually let it slide but since I've been doing more research it's been getting to me more. I suppose the closer I get to ttc/birth the more I'll pay attention to stuff like that. Oh well, it IS just a sitcom. ;)

Yeah, I totally hear that. Do you watch Men In Trees? Something happened on it last night that just kind of made me laugh because I work in the "emergency room for pregnant women" in a hospital and basically what happened on the show would never happen in real life, at least not in our hospital. Kind of like the hospital situations on... EVERY soap opera. LoL.

Isabella is Italian; Isabel is Spanish.
