I love Anouk. People always think it's so weird, and I don't really see where all the hate comes from. I think it's so interesting and pretty. And the association with the little girl in Chocolat helps too.

Aislin annoys me in that lots of the jump-on-the-trendy-irish-bandwagon people used it, but then insisted it's pronounced ACE-lynn.

I've called my sister (whose name begins with Ann) Anouk as a nickname since reading Chocolat. She hates the name, but I think it's really nice.

Really?! I've never heard of this sudden craving for Irish names. And I'm not so crazy over the Ash's, Ais's and such. But I thought it was cute, somewhat related to the lion in the Chronicles of Narnia?

That's pronounced Az-lan, if I'm not mistaken, but I can't remember the spelling. Aislin is Ayz-lynn, no?

I adore Aislin, I don't like the other spelling at all.

Anouk makes me think of Nanook of the North, which is a book or movie, I don't remember which, about a polar bear. Nanook/Nanuq is Inuktitut for polar bear. I'm a Canuck, though, maybe nobody else would have that association.

Anouk is OK but not really my style.

I like Aislin better as the spelling -- I know it's not pronounced like it's spelled anyhow, but Aselin really looks like it should be Ace-lynn.
