Our name choice have changed. I'm sick and tired of non-fanasy book reading people saying where the hell did you get the name Keladry from. Thus...

Meckenzie Paulette, for a girl a mix of our middle names, Meckenzie (me) and Paul (Chris)and for a boy, Daddy's name, possibly. I am wondering if that will make my older son feel wierd when he is older, or not wierd, just...left out. Now that chris and i are married, we are doing our best to include Seth in EVERYTHING. Chris is also planning on adopting Seth when he gets back from Basic Training for the Army.

Does anyone besides me feel like, if they name their baby after one relative, a favorite aunt/cousin/sibling then everyone else will get upset? and i would really love to name my daughter (when i have one) after my mom, but then, because my mom's life was cut so short (she was killed here in NYC), everyone will compare my little girl with her, and i don;t want that hanging over her head, and plus, Chris' mom and step mother both of whom i seriously dislike!!!! will then expect their respective (and hidious) names placed in there too. and there is no way in hell any of my kids will be marion or doreen. (no offence to anyone with those names, my hatred of them comes mainly from the people with them that i know). My mom was Theresa, which isn't so bad, but like i said, yeah...

Or is this all just me?

My mom was thinking about naming me Carolyn but decided against it because my dad's mom's name is Caroline and she thought her mom would feel bad. The stupid thing about that though was my grandma's first name is Caroline but she's never gone by it!! She always used her middle name. And Carolyn and Caroline are two different names.

Anyways, I think your fear is common. However, I think it would be nice to name her after your mom, especially since she is not alive anymore. I think that since it would be in loving memory you wouldn't have to worry about including the other names.

I don't know...I guess just go with your gut! : )

Personally, I love the idea of naming kids after important people. All of my kids (in the distant future, lol) will be named after people who were/are important to me.

Meckenzie is a terrific name and I like the unique spelling.

I plan on naming my first child, son or daughter, after my father who passed away 4 years ago. I don't care who gets upset. ;) I was thinking if it is a girl to include a variation of my mother's name as her middle name too.
