Vittoria

On Surviving Motherhood today, there was a five year old girl named Vittoria. Pronounced like Victoria without the c.  It's sounds to me like someone who can't pronounce Victoria, and leaves the c out.

WDYT?

I agree with you, and I don't like it.

It's an Italian pronunciation and Spelling, that's how Victoria would be in Italian.
The name Beatrice is spelled the same wat in Italian, but it'd be pronounced Beh-uh-TREE-Cheh

I think it is a brand of bottled water, because that is what comes into my head. I would have guessed it was an Italian version of Victoria, which is what other people have said too. I think I like it marginally better than Victoria, although there's not much difference.

It's just the Italian version.
But I don't particularly care for Victoria or Vittoria.

It was the name of the lead female (Italian) character in Dan Brown's Angels & Demons. I think I sort of got used to it through reading the book, though I do remember thinking something similar about how I was so used to Victoria that it sounded weird without a 'c'.

I think it sounds much prettier than Victoria, especially if you're saying it with an Italian accent. Then again, spoken Italian just sounds better than spoken English.

Julia is a name that is pronounced the same in English and Italian, but they spell it Giuila; our J is the same as their Gi.

I was actually watching this and I don't know what infuriated me more, her horrible made up name, or wanting to homeschool.
