My fiancee just got a copy of his family tree and is now set on the idea of the name Cason as a boy's name, after his great-great grandfather. I haven't seen it used as a first name and am not sure how I feel about it. What are y'alls thoughts?

Also, we have our girls' name choices narrowed down to either Delaney Mae or Ella Mae, leaning towards Delaney since Ella is so popular. I'd thusly aslo like to hear which nickname you like better for Delaney: Della or Lanie.

P.S. We're still TTC so we have a while to decide.

I'm not terribly fond of Cason, as it looks like Carson missing a letter. Plus, the way I'm saying it, it's rather similar to "casein," which is a milk protein. Would your fiance consider it as a middle name, maybe?

Of the girls, I'd actually prefer to see Della Mae as a full name. Delaney is in the top 200 in the US (Ella is #22), but Della isn't even in the top 1000. Della is just as complete a name as Ella is, and is rather prettier than Delaney on the whole, IMO.

I like Cason and Delaney. The only problem I have is that I know a girl named Kasen (same prn, I assume) and a boy named Delaney. lol.

Funny thing is, the girl Kasen was my brother Jason's fiancee.

That aside, I think they're both great names.

Cason looks like Carson with an "r" missing IMO. As a middle name it'd be great though!

I love "Delaney Mae"... Delaney has so many great nicknames - "Lane", "Laney", "Della", etc (you could even call her "Elle" or "Ella")... so even if it is kind of popular, she'll most likely have her own unique 'name'... does that make any sense? Sorry, I'm a little dumb today.

I don't really care for Cason. It kind of sounds made-up (I don't know if it is or not). Also it reminds me too much of Mason which I really don't like. If it has a personal significance to you and your SO, though, that's cool.

I really don't like Delaney, but Lanie is an adorable nn. I like Ella, but really only as a nn.

I know it's not, but Casen just sounds very trendy to me.
I like Delaney, but I'm just sick of Mae.

No I agree, although Cason itself probably isn't common, it would fit right in with a whole bunch of similar names, it sounds like both the trends of surnames as first names and the "-aden" names.

Cason is not the worst I guess, but everytime I see it I always hear casin', like someone is casin' the joint and getting ready for a robbery or something.

I like Ella so, so, SO much more than Delaney. I don't think Ella is too popular right now (though it's one I suspect is still climbing). But Delaney is the whinist sounding nasally-pronounced name. I just cannot stand that -laney sound at all. Thus I definitely like Della a lot more than Lanie.

At first when I read it I thought it said Carson, which made me really excited bc i LOVE the name Carson for a boy! I dont like Cason at all.. but you could do Carson as a tribute :)

I love Delaney and Ella both! I like Laney best as a nickname :)

There are two Casens at the daycare I work at. It's not a bad name....but it's not a good name. And I'd say it's rising in popularity.

Family name or not, sounds painfully trendy for this decade. Er..I don't really like the girls' names so I can't choose.

yes, like the word case.
Because it reminds of of Chase, which I like alot. But anyway it does sound like a last name as first name type name but I still like it better than Cason.
