My husband absolutely is insist on naming our baby Tarin or Taryn if it's a girl. I absolutely hate it, so does every body else I've asked. It reminds me of Tara, which reminds me of Tara reid, and I know about 15 dogs with the same name. I like the name Amber for a girl, I always have. Our last name is Riney (rhymes with Hiney, haha) So -ie or -y names are definetly out. Any suggestions?

Oh and for a boy we've already decided on Caleb James.

I think Taryn's really pretty. It's NMS exactly, but it definitely doesn't bring to mind anything negative (and Tara Reid is atrocious so if that's what it made me think of, it would be a problem lol)

I also like Amber although Taryn seems to be a more unique name.

Amber Taryn Riney, while not the best combo of a name ever as far as flowing, is pretty good I think. That might could work as a compromise. *shrug*

Taryn sounds okay. I knew a girl named that. She's about the same age as me (26). It's not a new or odd name..just a little less common.

I like Taryn a lot more than Amber. One, I just think it's a lot classier. Two, Amber Riney runs together - Amberiney.

If you both hate the other's choice though, I'd recommend scratching both of them and finding something else altogether.

I know twin guys name Terryl and Taryn, so to me, it seems like a guys name. Anywho, I do know that I really don't like Amber. It's always seemed like a ditzy name to me.

My dog is actually named Amber. I just thought that was kind of funny. ;) I would have to agree with the poster who said that if you each hate the other's chosen name, that you scrap 'em both and look for something new.

Maybe ask your fella what he loves so much about the name Taryn? Maybe you could find names with similar sounds that don't have such negative connotations for you.

I like "Amber" a lot more than "Taryn". I'm bias because I have 2 amazing friends named "Amber", but besides that I've always thought of it as a very pretty name. It's #102 in 2005, so although it's popular, it's no "Emily".
