Jennie Garth's new daughter is named Fiona Eve Facinelli. She joins her sisters, Lola Ray Facinelli and Luca Bella Facinelli. (Personally, I think Ray with that spelling and Luca are more suited for boys. JMO.) I love Fiona. I probably liked it more before Shrek, though, because it was a little more uncommon. And I like the alliteration of the first and last name (I have an alliterative name, so I always feel camaraderie there, like with Kate Hudson's son, Ryder Russell Robinson.)

Oddly enough, Tori Spelling's husband's adopted daughter with his ex wife is also named Lola. What do you think of that name? I like it a lot. I recently made a friend with that name and I love her to pieces. The only problems I have with it are that really, it's a diminutive name. It's a nickname for Dolores. Also, the connotation. Anyone named Lola either has to be an adorable little girl or one sexy-as-hell bombshell of a woman. And as there are two well-known songs that use that name, she'll go through life hearing "Whatever Lola wants, Lola gets!" and jokes about whether or not she's a transvestite. There's also the meaning, if anyone cares. Dolores and Lola, by association, both mean sorrowful or sadness.

Oh I HATE Lola. It is such a stripper name. Sooo tacky. Fiona is really cute, I like it a lot. Luca is awful on a girl.

Lola seems to be very popular for celeb babies (along with Ava).

I love the name Lola. I do feel like it should be short for something, but I think that Dolores is an awfully awful-sounding name.

It's also very popular amongst celebrities - Charlie Sheen & Denise Richards and Kelly Ripa have daughters named Lola, and Madonna's daughter Lourdes goes by Lola. Popularity doesn't bother me, though, and neither does the song thing. I'd never heard of either of the songs about Lola until I joined this community, and I doubt it'd be a problem for a child born now, unless someone else writes a song about a girl named Lola.

I can't stop singing it!!!

I have no problem with the name Lola, to me it's never had a bad connotation, even with the songs. One of the girl's I babysit is Lola, she is adorable and I think the name suits her. I also know a Lola who is in her twenties and it also fits her personality.

"Her name is Lola, she was a showgirl
But that was 30 years ago, when they used to have a show
Now it's a disco, but not for Lola
Still in the dress she used to wear, faded feathers in her hair
She sits there so refined, and drinks herself half-blind
She lost her youth and she lost her Tony
Now she's lost her mind!"
I like the name Lola but ok but the associations- that song, Lolita, sorrow... are too sad for me.

I wouldn't be worried by "Anyone named Lola either has to be an adorable little girl or one sexy-as-hell bombshell of a woman" though,
since my daughter will be- it's genetic! :)

I second the Lolita thing.
I wanted to name my future daughter that, until I read the book and saw the movie.

It's definitely NOT something you want to associate a child with, in my opinion.

Fiona's cute, not something I would pick, but it's still nice.

I hate Lola because it seems like it's always holier-than-thou people who choose it to make their daughter look better/richer than yours.
