Cate Blanchett and her husband Andrew Upton have adopted a daughter, named Edith Vivian Patricia. Which is so wonderfully posh, I can't help but like it even though I don't really like any of the names individually. Very Downton.

They have three sons, as well: Dashiell John, Roman Robert, and Ignatius Martin.

I don't really like Dashiell, but the rest are pretty good. WDYT?

I love Vivian and Roman.

I know it's just one celebrity and it's really means nothing, but are we moving towards more mid-century style naming trends? That's what Edith made me think of. Names that were popular at the turn of the 20th century have been in style for a while now ("grandma" names like Hazel or Penelope). Are we moving towards short, to-the-point names ("mom" names, I guess I'd call them)? It'll be interesting to see if they come back into popularity at some point.

I've warmed up to Edith since I started watching Downton. Plus I seem to know about 6 Eadie/Edie's but not a single Edith.

Ignatius seems to go by Iggy more often than not.

I'm not keen on Patricia, but I love Edith Vivian. I intend to use Edith as part of a middle for my first daughter, if I have one.

I've never liked Dashiell, but I like John. I have a soft spot for Roman because I know one, but it's not really my style. I like Robert as a middle but not for Roman. I like Ignatius fairly well, but I don't know how I feel about anyone actually using it. I would use the nn Nate. With Martin, it's...ehh, but that may be because I'm so used to thinking of it in the context of what I would use it with: Hugo.

Ignatius is interesting..It's the main character's name in Horns but they call him Iggy :)

I have a niece named Edith. she is 9 months old.

as for the boys, Ignatius is the best of the lot, but I like it more theoretically, as opposed to actual use.

I love Ignatius but I like all the names for the couple. In Australia Cate Blanchett is obviously a superstar but she's also a theatre darling, her husband is the director of the Sydney Theatre Company. These are theatre names and they work.

Ditto, I often wonder what Edie is short for! But I love Edith, both stand alone and with Edie as a nickname.

I've actually always really liked Dashiell. It's handsome and unusual and I think of Dashiell Hammett (& Lillian Hellman!).

Roman isn't my style, but I love the alliteration and Ignatius Martin is just great! I agree with another commenter that I love Edith Vivian Patricia, but would love it more without the Patricia added.

The ones I know, there is one who is Eden and another is Edwina. Very cute.
