[identity profile] twitchywoman.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
My friend became an aunt today on her birthday.  Her little sister had a baby boy named Louis.  I am uncertain if it is pronounced "lu-ee" or "lu-iss."

I am pleasantly surprised considering the mom is 20 years old.  Good to know not all young people have awful taste.

Ha,surprisingly good taste. I thought it was pronounced Lewis until I Louis CK became popular.
I would assume Lu-ee but you never know.

The weird thing is most people say Lu-ee CK.

I have a cousin called Lewis. I prefer Louis and pronounced Lu-ee.

I have a sweet 10 month old names Louis. :-)

Loo-iss. But we often call him Louie so if someone said it that way I wouldn't correct them.

His show is called Louie so he likely has that as a nickname, so either would be acceptable.

Louis (with the French pronunciation loo-ee) was on our short list for DS#2, but then at 35 weeks I saw the brattiest kid ever at a museum with that name and he 100% turned me off it forever. The kid was a total shit.
