Just read the post on Anais, for the longest time i thought it was an-ay, like the perfume..
i love it pronounced the way i did, i think it's beautiful...
so i dont like botched names, or krey88iv names but it was in my top 5 (until i realised it was wrong!)

1) would anyone use a nme they had made up?

2)how on earth would i spell it!?

an-ay reminds me of forrest gump and the way he says "jenn-ay" for jenny. it just sounds like some odd pronounciation of annie to me. hahaha. i suppose if you really liked that the way that name sounds, i'd spell it annae. it's totally not my style but that's the best i could come up with.

There's only one made-up anme that i've made..I always thought (when i wsa younger mostly) that the name "Jessenia" was pronounced Jess-een-yah...so i spell it Jessina (with a tilde over the 'n') other than that, no i prolly wouldnt

i know a jessina. poor girl, in school almost everyone was like "hey, your name is spelled wrong!" or teachers would be like, "oops, looks like a typo, jessica. we'll fix that!"

The only made-up name I'd consider using is one I didn't make up: Elora. As for "an-ay"... Enais? Annai? None of them look as nice...

1. Yes, I have nothing against made up names as long as they look reasonable and sound the way they are spelt. I don't happen to have plans to make anything up, but I don't see what the big deal is about it the way many do.

2. Anay is how I would spell your sound.

I'm not sure how made up it is! There is a town in Ontario, Elora. Famous for the Elora Gorge, and not much else.

I would also pronounce Anais as an-ay. Maybe however else it's supposed to be pronounced is the American interpretation of it?

Hold up. You are correct! Anais is a name. Anais Nin was a famous author - published diaries and erotica. The name is pronounced "Ana-EESE". She was discovered to be a bigamist (married to two men) unbeknownst to either of the men until after her death.

See wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ana%C3%AFs_Nin

Yes, I'd use a name I created.
My mother came up with "Saree" for me, but not sure if I like it. Well, I do, but my husband doesn't.
