It doesn't have the same negative connotations. But if someone ever suggested it, I would make sure there aware.

Generally unless they have spent sometime in Europe/UK there is a still many people who wouldn't realise it has/is used as a racial slur & derogatory.

Greek surname, parents have Anglo names so they really are odd ones out.
