Two of my friends had baby boys recently. It's making me think again about the enormity of finding a good name for ours!

After some hemming and hawing, Morgan (whose real name is Eric but has gone by his middle name for 15+ years) and Nicole named their little boy Duncan Alexander. My husband and I both really like the name. It suits their personalities completely.

Jennifer and Nick have given their daughter Sophie Jamie a little brother named Liam Blake.

I think when it comes to our second, it's really going to be a case of "see what he looks like" first. With Henry, it was more, "Okay, this is the ONE name we both like." Now, we have a name that is about 70% likely to be The Name, but I keep mentally holding out for something that's going to stun me with the perfection of it. Plus, I had another, "Geez, this would be easier if it was a girl!" moment the other day. *sigh*

Would it be weird to give a boy the name Grace as a middle name? My husband has decided that Melbourne (one of his grandfathers' names) is really too heavy a burden to place on a kid, so I was thinking of going with the name of one of his grandmothers. I was wondering if George Grace MacD is too odd (though "G. G. MacD" has a hilarious ring to it). Every time I've asked my husband about it it genuinely seems to be as he's falling asleep for the night so I've yet to get an answer.

I don't think that Grace would be a food choice for a boy, I'm afraid. It's far too common as a middle name for girls and Gracie is a very common girl's first name.

I think Melbourne would be a better choice than Grace.

Grace will be more likely to embarrass a boy than Melbourne IMHO.

I think George Melbourne works better.

I agree with everyone else. George Melbourne is much better than George Grace. I like Melbourne as the middle name.

I agree with everyone else. Grace is such a popular girl name, it's sure to be embarrassing to him when he gets older.

I love Duncan Alexander. Pretty sure I named a character that once. It's pretty great (but probably a little too plain for my taste these days).

I don't like Sophie Jamie at all. Liam Blake is nice.

I don't think that Grace would work on a guy. It is a strong name (virtue names tend to be), but it's so popular as a girl's name that people would probably think it strange.

I don't think Grace is a good choice for a boys' middle name. I actually like George Melbourne MacD - he's only going to be a child for so long, and he won't use his middle name very often.
