At the OB office today I saw a baby boy named Anthem.

WDYT?

I hate it. I think it's really stupid. And looking at the mom, I guess I'm not surprised. She looked like the dumb young lady that would pick "unique" names for her kids. And I believe she was there for a new U/S meaning they'll soon have another stupid name picked for their next unfortunate child.

There really is no need to personally insult someone you don't know based solely on their looks. If you've read some of the names that have been posted here, you know that Anthem is pretty tame. Yes, we make fun of the names people give their children and say some of them constitute child abuse, but we don't throw personal insults around at the parents, even if we know them.

Yeah. That's a lot of vitriol for a woman you saw for five minutes at a doctor's office. Anthem may be a dumb name but that's not reason to be so negative toward the mother.

I surprisingly don't hate it - I'm not usually into word names and usually dislike names that would maybe be similar to this name, but yeah, it doesn't bother me for some reason. It doesn't scream hippy or kr8tyve or even trendy to me...

The name isn't that bad.
You have no idea why she was there. There are all sorts of reasons for young women to go to an ob/gyn- not all of them happy.
Insulting another patient at the doctor's office over something as stupid as a baby name makes you sound petty and bitter, but I hope the real cause of all your angst gets better soon.

Actually, I do know why she is there. Should I go over every moment of my visit in which we crossed paths or I saw where she was headed next, or how I know exactly what her kid's name was in the first place. When I first saw her and her family I certainly didn't think she was pregnant, when she was leaving, I knew for sure. and if it wasn't happy, the smiling and generally cheery nature of her and her partner, well, she's pregnant and she's happy.

I'll blame my "angst" on the fact that I'm pregnant. And I'll blame your rage-y comment on your period and be done with it.

A girl would make it a hundred times better. Then it has an almost hippy ring to it. Like Melody or Lyric, along those musical lines. But on a boy, I absolutely hate it and see a lot of teasing in his future...especially if he can't sing.

I AM pregnant, and hormonal, and sensitive, and you know what? Reading all these comments hurt. I kinda wanted to cry. But I refuse to let people on the internet bring me down...today is going to be a good day regardless of what was said, lash out at the lasher. You all obviously think I'm a horrible person so who cares.

You see rage where there was none. I'm sorry if that's how it came across- it wasn't my intent at all. I jotted off that comment in less than a minute, and felt more annoyed than ragey at your post, but tone is sometimes difficult to get across online.

Your post and comments are the ones reading ragey to me.
Pregnancy sucks. It made me mean and stupid at times too. When my 2nd (and last) kid was born, I spent 5 months feeling happy and excited just to not be pregnant anymore.
