[identity profile] cozyjeans.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
I’m not pregnant, nor do we have any plans to expand our family in the near future, but I always think about future baby names. We have two girls, Haylie Elizabeth and Emma Cheyenne. Haylie is named after my two best friends in high school. There is no sentimental significance to Emma’s name, we debated over it for months before deciding on it. Emma was my top choice and Cheyenne was hubby’s, so we smushed them together and said no more arguing. LOL. If Emma had been a boy, her name was going to be Jonathan Gabriel, and I think that will stick for the next one if it’s a boy. For a girl, I feel a strong desire to make her name significant. We have a friend who died tragically due to complications surrounding the birth of her son back in August, and her name was Leila. I love that name. Hubby’s maternal grandmother’s name was Rosa. I was thinking Leila Rose, to honor them both. Then I started thinking that Leila’s widower might feel a little creeped out that we used his dead wife’s name, and I thought of Lia. It’s a name I’ve always liked, and to me, since it has 3 or the 5 letters in Leila, it’s a nice way to honor Leila without directly using her name. WDYT? Baby’s full name would be Lia Rose Scott. Is Lia close enough to Leila? Or would you just go with Leila and be done with it? I want to be delicate about it so as not to make her family and other friends uncomfortable, but she was an amazing woman who deserves to be remembered, you know? Sorry this is rambly, I’m overly tired but have no desire to go to bed. LOL.
