[identity profile] blueorange94.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames
Just found out yesterday I'm pregnant with #2. I know it's stupidly early to be thinking about this, but yeah, I'm thinking of names. I don't even know if it'll stick around long enough to get one (I did have a miscarriage before I had my son, who's now two-and-a-half), but even though my body's exhausted already my brain's in overdrive.

I know I posted about this some time ago but can't remember when, and we had such a hard time coming up with a boy's name that we liked so I'm reaching out to LJ for ideas. In the end we chose Henry Leonard for our son: Henry, because it's also Frenchifiable, and Leonard, the anglicized version of my grandfather's name, Léandre.

Here are our general criteria:

  • first name bilingual (English/French), and maybe more traditional

  • girl's middle name either Grace or Marion, after my husband's grandmothers

  • boy's middle name undecided, maybe Melbourne, after one of my husband's grandfathers (the other one rhymes with our last name, so no)

  • nothing gender ambiguous in French, e.g. Michel/Michelle, Dominic/Dominique

  • Not David, Daniel, John, James, William, Xavier, or Catherine, Hannah, Elizabeth, or Mary Anything

  • my husband's request: no R's, as he can't pronounce them properly in French

Oh, and based on how soon I started feeling sick (approximately three days after conception, LOL), my friend suspects it might be twins. Go nuts! :D

congrats!

I think Oliver/Olivier could definitely work. or possibly Hugh (unless that's too English.)
For girls maybe Adele, Lisette, Ada. Emmaline/Emily, Charlotte, Louise or maybe Olivia.

One of my absolute favorites in Benoit or Benedict! And my husband really likes Hugo. :) Congrats!

For a girl, maybe Sylvie Grace or Sylvie Marion. Or maybe Lea/Leah, which is currently popular in France. Leah Marion might be quite nice.

For a boy, maybe Louis Melbourne? Or Peter/Pierre Melbourne.
