Names for a Girl?
Aug. 5th, 2013 05:59 pmI am currently 26 weeks pregnant and really struggling between two name choices for our girl. My son (who will be 2 next month) is Alexander Anthony. Alexander was chosen (to be frank) simply because it was the last name left after battling it out with my husband. Anthony is my great-grandfather's last name, grandfather's middle name, and my father's middle name, so it has a lot of family history.
I have two choices for a girl: Kaylee Jayne and Elizabeth Rose. I like Kaylee Jayne because its modern but not "too out there". Its out there, but not by much. Elizabeth Rose has family significance. Elizabeth is my little sister's middle name and Rose is my baby sister's middle name. I really like Kaylee Jayne but I really like Elizabeth Rose because of the family significance. If my son as a familial name, I would like for my daughter to have one as well. My mom's whole family is Finnish (and their names reflect that) and we just can't pull those names off. My dad's family tree can only be tracked back as far as my great-grandfather (LONG story). And I HATE my in-laws. (With a passion. Even my husband won't name our children after his family. I had wanted to name our son Harlow because it was my husband's middle name but he wouldn't have it because Harlow was a family name on his Mom's side. That's how much he is against naming our children against members of his family).
I've tried different mixtures of the two, but I think that that can be a mouthful for a little kid. I've tried writing out Kaylee Elizabeth Rose or Kaylee Rose Elizabeth, but I think that's a bit much. I also don't want to choose between Elizabeth or Rose because I have a feeling it will hurt someone's feelings (which I do not want).
We are only planning on having two children.
I really like both names and don't know which to go with. Thoughts?
