I saw a little girl today whose name was spelled "Sayde" on her backpack... in my head I kept saying "Say-d", like "say" with a d on the end. Her mom then actually called her name out loud: "Sadie."

In the same store, there was a sibset: Marissa and Marley. Marissa was pronounced "Mah-ree-sa" and they kept calling her "Reese." They were in their teens.

Sadie is pronounced say-dee anyway. How else would you pronounce it? I agree that Sayd is a terrible spelling!

Sorry, my misunderstanding; you thought it was sayd not say-dee. Sadie is such a pretty name and spelling, why do people mess with it?
