Family Names

Seeing as my nickname is Lola, my dad linked me to an obituary for a  distant family member (I believe she was one of my grandpa's cousins?) whose name was Lola and had kept her maiden name - my family name, thus making her name very similar to mine.

Names in the obituary

Lola (age 91)
Her husband was Lionel
Her parents were Alcide and Carrie

She had five siblings (spouse names in brackets): Leo (Lucille), Lindy (Margaret), Lester (Margaret), Lloyd and Laura (Willard)

Lola and Lionel had three children: Leitha, Linda and Leo

That's a lot of l's.

Another family member left condolences and his name is Loyal. I would love to use that for a character at some point. Not sure if I would use it on a person.

That's the first time I've ever heard of Alcide being used anywhere besides on "True Blood."

That's what I was thinking. I really wish I knew what her nieces and nephews are/were named but they weren't listed in the obit. I need to get on Ancestry.com because my Dad's side of the family has some pretty great names that I've heard. I can only imagine how awesome the ones I haven't heard are.

It's an addictive name - you want to use it but you know that it might turn out horribly. And I can only imagine the "Loyal is my middle name. No literally, Loyal is my middle name." jokes if it was used as a middle instead of a first.

Lola is a great name and I really like Lucille as well :) Loyal is a bit weird, whilst I value loyalty, its something you'd have to live up to I think XD I would make a cool surname.

I couldn't help but laugh a little seeing it here because my dog's name is Leo. :P Was funny seeing it in the obit but I'm giggling a little to myself again now seeing another pairing.

My given name is Laurel. When I was in high school a friend of mine was forever forgetting my name or mixing it up so she decided that I needed a new name. Not sure where she got it from or why she decided on it.

Lola was actually originally short for Dolores apparently though :)
