Hello all!

I am nowhere near having kids, but I think about names all the time, and love them. So I was thinking about boys' names, since I generally don't care much for them; my real passion lies in girls' names.

I finally had an idea for one I really love! Love passionately enough to give.

I threw it out there for a few family members' and friends' opinions (they liked it, surprisingly) but I was wondering what a bunch of strangers thought of using the name Everest for a boy.

I'm a huge Mt. Everest enthusiast/fan, and I think it's a good, strong word/name. It's not as "crazy" as some of the place/thing names out there. I just really love it, and it has personal meaning.

If I have girls, they'd be Lorraine Helena and Margaret Diane - Lorraine first. (Those middle names are up for debate, but that's kind of irrelevant for now, in this context.) So a boy-girl sibset would be Lorraine and Everest.

I'd love to get your opinions, though! Yea or nay? (Also - middle name ideas? I keep joking that Himalaya would be a good one, but I am so so joking. LOL)

I feel like if he ends up a large child...not overweight. My friend was 6'3 and not fat but was called everything under the sun...mt Everest bring one of them. Shrek another. I think itd be much worse if his name was Everest and not Thomas. He was a pretty angry sad depressed person in high school :(

I don't really like Everest, and I think that [livejournal.com profile] redfield79 brings up a good point. What about Everett?

I love Lorraine and Margaret! I like Lorraine Helena, but I don't think I like Margaret Diane. It's like a clash of classic with a very 1970s type name. What about Alice?

Yeah, Everest is actually kind of cool. Your girls' names are definitely NMS and I don't think such ordinary names fit well with an unusual name like Everest.

A friend of a friend named her son Everest - I think he's about 5 now. When I first heard the name, I couldn't take it seriously. I am still not a fan.

ETA One of my favorite names is Everett.
