My grandma passed away last year and her name was Sally Anne. I'm currently 19 weeks pregnant and the other night my partner & I were trying to think of names that we could use to "honor" her. I came up with nothing. I already have a cousin (who is my age) named Sally, so that's out. My middle name is Ann (my mom always says it should have been spelled Anne) so my partner suggested using that as a middle name? The only name I could find that seemed similar to Sally was Tally/Taliah (or some variation of it) which I'm really not a fan of.

I also need something that's not too weird with my current daughter. She's Gabrielle Kathryn (with the nickname of Gabby that is SO fitting).

We can find out next week what the baby is if we want to, but I'm still undecided. I'd like a surprise. I like Oliver (Ollie) & Josephine (JoJo). He likes Jayden (I'm not sure how it's spelled??). We both kind of like Bailey and Jonas.

There are lots of names that start with An which you could use. Andrea, Annabel, Etc. Before we knew we were having a boy,we considered Evelyn to honor an aunt with the middle name Lynn. Lynn is such a common name, so we tried to find ways to use it creatively.

Would two middle names be something you'd consider? I think Sally Anne could work if paired with a longer first name.

Sally used to be a nickname for Sarah, so what about something like that? And according to Wikipedia, it was also a nickname for names like Sandra and Sorcha.

Or you could make Anne the first name instead?

I don't see anything wrong with using Anne as a middle name if you like it. I plan on using my middle name as a daughter's middle name. It was also my grandma's first name.

Oh and I have family friends who named their daughter Natalia (I think Natalie would work fine too) and call her Tally.

Like someone else said, Sally comes from Sarah. I think Sarah is a lovely name, and Sarah Josephine or Josephine Sarah both sound nice, as well as go with Gabrielle Kathryn.

As far as boy names, I would definitely go with either Oliver or Jonas. They're much more classic. Jayden is both wickedly popular and trendy at the moment, assuming you're in the US, and comes in a myriad of spellings.

I'm not sure if you're thinking of Bailey for a boy or a girl, as it can be used for either. I've never liked it, personally. It doesn't age well, and many people seem to know dogs by the name, as I seem to recall seeing people say it is a "dog's name," on here in past discussions on the name.

If it's a boy, you can do Salvatore or Salvador (Sal for short)
what about something similar sounding for a girl- maybe Selena?

Jayden is trendy and, well, odd. It also is quite incongruous with Gabrielle imo

Bailey is the outer part of a castle to me... Or Baileys. Mmm Baileys.

Dear God please no more Jaydens!!!!!! In a few years your child will go to school and find 2 more Jaydens, 1 Aiden and 1 Cayden in his class. Do you really want that? I love both Oliver and Josephine, for your girl use your grandmas name as a middle; Josephine Sally-Anne Lastname, since its a middle name you can play with it a lot more than a first name where you will have explaining to do when introducing her. I love the nicknames of Joey and Jo-Jo for Josephine.

Sally comes from the name Sarah. You could use that instead. Or Sadie, which is another version of Sarah.

My SIL is batshit crazy and her name is Sarah, so that's definitely out.

I absolutely agree with Jayden. I said I'd have to die before that was my child's name.
He said he's like to honor his mother as well...so we might end up with 2 middle names...Anne-Lyn

I wanted I name my daughter Josephine. I've loved that name for a long time. I love JoJo as a nickname

Either way we find out tomorrow...so it should make naming the baby a little easier
