Busy Phillips[Cougar Town] and husband Marc Silverstein chose Cricket Pearl Silverstein for their new daughter, who was born last week. She joins big sister Birdie Leigh, age 4.

Thoughts? I actually don't hate it. Its a cute, nature name and its spelled correctly.

I don't hate it but I don't like it. Cricket and Birdie are both cute little girl names but they don't age very well. I can't imagine a 40 year old Cricket or Birdie except maybe summering on the Vineyard.

The names together are way too much. IMO, those are cute nicknames that you use, not full names. They didn't age well and they are way too nature themed.

i'm with you, actually. i'm not sure i'd ever actually name my own child Cricket, of course, but i don't hate it. and as far as celebrity baby names go, it's tame.

Oh. Her daughter's name is actually Birdie? I thought that was a sweet nickname. I didn't know it was her real name.

Also, when I read Cricket I immediately had a flashback of my Cricket doll from the 80s - which is funny because I can never, ever remember that name and have the hardest time when I try.

I don't hate Cricket(though it always makes me think of Cricket Montgomery from ATWT), and I like Pearl. Birdie Lee... not so much.

I actually know a 35 year old Cricket ... its a nickname from HS that stuck, but it suits her down to the ground. Most of her friends don't even know her real name, and professionally she is known as Cricket.

I like it. I actually like both of them. I've thought Cricket was cute for a few years now.

People are actually called Cricket? It's an ugly name for an ugly insect (and a boring game) IMO. I like Birdie, though. I'd never use it as a proper name, but it's a cute nn.

Well, with a 4 year old named Birdie, Cricket doesn't surprise me.
Whether they both are good names in my opinion would be a very different story... :P

I don't hate it either, which only proves that I watched Young and The Restless too much as a child!

I like Cricket for a pet. Birdie is a secret love of mine. I would use it as a nickname for maybe Briar or another B name.

Weird. I don't really *like* either name, but I don't hate the combo. It flows nicely, and it is spelled correctly.

I do get a little bit irritated by celebrities giving their children noun names, or other weird things (ahem, North West) because it just gives off the vibe that they are naming a silly little dog or purse or other random fashion accessory than naming a living, breathing person that will have to live with that name. I like Birdie better because it gives the illusion it is short for an actual name like Bridget or Beatrice.

Although, to be fair, given Busy's name, absurd first names might just be a family tradition?

And a type of sport!

Ditto on Birdie. Cute for a nickname, awful for a given name.

Cricket makes me think of the Young and the Restless character from long ago. I thought she was the prettiest. Haha. I don't hate it, though I think of it as a nickname. It's too much with Birdie, but both are tame for celebrities. Mom's name is Busy... so she knows what it's like to have a weirdish name.
