Urania

I really love names from mythology or that evoke astronomy and astrology, especially if a name hits all three. This one popped in my head on my way home as I was thinking about sibsets for Persephone. Would it elicit the same "your anus" jokes Uranus does? That's my worry.

I think it would bring "your anus" (Uranus) and urine jokes to the table.

Don't do it. Your child won't appreciate it.

Echoing everyone's nay on Urania. I've always had a secret love for Terpsichore, though.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I don't see anus or urine jokes. It's not my style, but I don't think it's unusable.

I went to high school with an Urania. Mind you, it was a school in a Latin@ neighborhood, so we knew her name was pronounced Oo-ran-ya, so she was never made fun of for it. I love the name too, and I had considered it for a daughter, but I'm actually planning to name a character that. :D

Personally I would prefer one of the other Muses, like Thalia or Calliope.

Anyway, it may or may not.

For Persephone, I would go for another nature goddess or nymph, like Artemis. There's also Astris, the star-nymph daughter of Helios, or Aurora, the sister of the sun and moon. Pasiphae is also a star name and daughter of Helios, but that's close to Persephone.

In addition to Andromeda, there's also Astraea, who is represented by the constellation Virgo (although there are several other explanations for Virgo).
