Jun. 15th, 2013 05:03 amWhat does everyone think of the name Seven?
Now, in thinking about names for my future children, I have always wanted their names to mean something to both myself and their father. I have no idea why it took me so long to figure this one out, but my SO and I were both born on the 7th day of our respective birth months. Outside of that, seven has always been my lucky number, which is why I think I like it so much. But how badly would you roll your eyes if someone told you they named their child Seven because the parents were both born on the seventh of February and November?

Date: 2013-06-15 03:30 pm (UTC)In English, we don't really use numbers as names. Now there's no inherent reason why numbers can't be names. However, even in cultures where numbers are names or parts of names, you should be aware that they are usually family position names (first son, third daughter etc), and the larger numbers especially have a sort of "great, another kid, I can't be bothered to come up with anything" overtone.

In short, if I was called a number I'd view it as being how I was viewed by my parents. The only two number names that work for me are Septimus and Octavian, and then mostly because of their history of use!
