What does everyone think of the name Seven?

Now, in thinking about names for my future children, I have always wanted their names to mean something to both myself and their father.  I have no idea why it took me so long to figure this one out, but my SO and I were both born on the 7th day of our respective birth months.  Outside of that, seven has always been my lucky number, which is why I think I like it so much.  But how badly would you roll your eyes if someone told you they named their child Seven because the parents were both born on the seventh of February and November?

Would make a fine middle name I think :)

I'd probably try to find a name withs seven as the meaning, or in another language.

my mind would immediately go to that episode of Seinfeld, when George said he wanted to name his future child Seven...and because of that I might smirk or smile- but, I guess overall it's okay

It doesn't really feel like a name to me, it's too much of a definite word, if that makes sense. Maybe as a middle name.

I really can't see it as a name. Also, seeing it written out and isolated from other numbers, all I can think of is the movie Seven (can also be found as Se7en), which features a serial killer committing murders based on the seven deadly sins. :\

The first thing I thought was Harper Seven, the daughter of David and Victoria Beckham. I don't like it, but as a middle name, it could probably work.

I would roll my eyes. Numbers are not names.

All I would think of is Gwenyth Paltrow's head in a box. Sorry, not a good name.

Now on a very special Blossom, Six gets a new sister.

Naming your child after a number is sitcom material not something that should be done to a real person.

Makes me think of "Seven of Nine" from Star Trek Voyager. I like how the word itself sounds and rolls off the tongue, but seeing as it's a number, I'm not a fan. I wouldn't name my child "three", for example.

I like it fine as a middle name. As a first name, it wouldn't be my favourite, but there are definitely worse names out there. And at least you have a reason behind it ... that always makes me feel better about names I'm unsure of, as opposed to someone who just chose a name because it sounded good to them.

The movie was my first thought, and it's not a pleasant one, so that would be my biggest problem.

In English, we don't really use numbers as names. Now there's no inherent reason why numbers can't be names. However, even in cultures where numbers are names or parts of names, you should be aware that they are usually family position names (first son, third daughter etc), and the larger numbers especially have a sort of "great, another kid, I can't be bothered to come up with anything" overtone.

Lucky numbers are for playing the lottery, not for naming children, IMHO. What if the child its unlucky?

Seven is the name of my Tablet, so not a name I'd consider for anything where they are more important than being a numerical designation...:

This says it so much better than I: I am Not a Number! Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sv813f2Xtrg). In short, if I was called a number I'd view it as being how I was viewed by my parents. The only two number names that work for me are Septimus and Octavian, and then mostly because of their history of use!

I'm not a fan. Also, at first glance I read it as "Steven" and I imagine that could happen quite often.

I actually think that's a really cool name and I don't see how it could be viewed as bad or anything in terms of life/future job hunting/etc., for the kid.

That's what my first thought was, too. Geeks unite!

OTOH, Seven's human name was Annika.

Being perfect honest, I immediately think of George Constanza and Seinfeld.

That being said, if it means a lot to you, totally try to find a way to use it! I think it could totally work as a middle name.

Really hard. Internally, though. I think it'd be different if seven had special meaning in your relationship or your lives, but just being the number of the day on which you were born...eh.

Erykah Badu and Andre Benjamin named their son Seven.
