Oh, so another year of being harassed by random people who say when they hear my three year is named Sophia, "Oh...I guess you're not into unique!" And then they walk away with their Jaydyn or Mackynzy.

And it still boggles my mind that Madison is still popular.

The French word for "house" made it on the list? Interesting.

Surprised to see Yousef and Zaid b/c I work with people w/ the last name of Yousif and someone with the first name of Ziad (which I'm assuming are derivatives one way or the other). It's funny, b/c I was thinking Kyrie would make a pretty name. . .but it means Lord in Greek. (And even with the 2 syllable pronunciation, I would still make the association).

I like:

Both of the boys names I like (Jonah and Rowan) have gained in popularity. The girls name I like (Adele) wasn't even on that list! A lot of the girls names are ick, and I noticed a lot of the same names with different spellings (Kaydence and Cadence, Lilyana and Liliana, Kali and Cali... No offense, but I'm not really sure why someone would name their daughter Kali).

Question is, do they pronounce it like "Callie" or "Kaylee?" Sadly, I'm betting on the latter.

That was supposed to be in response to gemmagic.I'm not sure why LJ did that...

It's still #1 by far if you add up all the different spellings of it.

Dude, I wonder how I am going to react in 20 years when I am hiring people and I get a resume on my desk that says Juelz.

I'm surprised that Sheldon, Celine, Estelle, Dallas, Coraline and Denzel weren't already on the list, though. Coraline came out a few years ago.

It's always interesting to see movie roles or celebrity names pop up on here - I'm guessing that Sheldon surged because of The Big Bang Theory, and Cataleya because of Colombiana. I'm not sure why Paisley/Paislee became so popular all of a sudden, though; one of the girls I went to high school with named her daughter Paisley and I hate it.

Yeah, didn't it become popular with that movie Splash in the late 1980s? It wasn't even a real name before then (which, if I remember, is what Tom Hanks says to the mermaid).

I checked and the movie came out in 1984. Sure enough, Madison entered the lists for the first time in 1985, and skyrocketed to the top 10 very quickly.

People are behind on the times and just now starting to catch on to Brad Paisley? I know Paisley is one of my guilty pleasure names for that reason.
