[identity profile] earn-my-wings.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] babynames

A girl from high school is five months preggers and recently shared the name:

Jason and Jade are welcoming baby boy Jude Christian.

Jade is actually her middle name, but few people know that (first name is Stephanie).

I don't really like the name all that much, but considering she's 22, I'm impressed with the normalcy and timelessness of the choice. Although "Jade and Jude" are a bit too close.

And as usual, I really hope any future babies have names that DON'T start with J...

I really like Jude. Christian, not so much.

I don't have a problem with Jude; it reminds me of Jude Law, but that's about it. I'm not a fan of Christian as a name, though.

I like the name ok but I just can't with matchy matchy names. Obviously, it doesn't apply to the parents because they had no control over that. So if that were me, I would specifically AVOID names that start with that j sound. Instead, they went as matchy as possible for girl to boy, only changing the vowel sound. So, yeah, this name for this family would be out if it were me. And now they've really set themselves up because if the next kid isn't j-, then he/she will be left out, but if it is j- then this whole family is going to be soooooo matchy matchy. The d sound at the end is particularily difficult because that d sound is actually a part of the j sound. Say it - Jason, Jade, Jude. It sounds like "Jay Jude"

ugh.

Jude has always seemed really feminine to me, probably because Judy and Judith are much more common in the UK than Jude.

I don't mind the name at all. I think Jude Christian is a little choppy but if you add a last name it sounds better - like Jude Christian Miller or whatever. I don't see a problem with Jade and Jude. I want to use Neva as a middle name for a girl and it is also my middle name. Although it's a family name so perhaps it makes more sense?

Oh I read that Jade was her middle name and most people didn't know that... sorry I read it wrong. That said it does bother me more now. Jade and Jude are very close. I liked Genevieve (not enough to use it but just was thinking about it) and it would be ridiculous with my name, Jennifer. Gen is an obvious nickname (I prefer Eve or others though) and with me being Jenn it would be way too close!

I love the name Jude so much. But just NO with the 3 J's. I hate that.

I really like the names separately, but I also don't mind them together.

Sounds okay to me. Just be glad it's not Jayden/Jaden/Jaidyn or any other variation!

Considering she's 22? Sorry, I had to chuckle at that... when does one reach the age of maturity in terms of naming babies? 25? 30? :P Anyway, I like the name.

It's a bit matchy with the parents' names, but I like Jude Christian a lot. I don't get the hate on Christian as a name (it's been around since the Middle Ages and started out as a female name).

When I was in elementary school, I knew a family like that with all T's: Tom, Trudy, Trisha, Tyler (or Trevor or Travis?), and Tori (f). I guess the parents decide their matching initials are fate and just go with it?

Me, too. I'm 23, and I'd use Jude. I'd also use Liam, Jasper, Nicholas, Alexander, Christopher, David, Kevin, Arthur, Callum, and Ezra. I guess that's surprising?

I love matchy names. I am Kimi. My husband is Kyle & we have a Kegan & Karie. We are totally cheesy & I am okay with that.

As far as that name goes, I like Jude.
