I don't usually do this, but I was so struck by these names I had to share. I'm in a birth month forum for when I'm due, and this came up today, with someone asking about their baby name choice:

Baby: Kal-El Theodore

Mom: Kuhky (pronounced Cookie)
Aunt: Audrey
Niece:Alyhksi nn Lex

It took me three readings of Alyhksi to realize it should be Alexi. And I wonder how the family went from Audrey to Kuhky.

There are enough cool-looking, legit spellings of Aleksei or Olexey or whatever that there is no need to do something like that to it a perfectly good name.

Kal-El, not so bad. Sounds like a non-American name, and not knowing the other family members' names, I would have assumed that. Alexi is fine but the spelling! There is no word -- probably in ANY language -- that contains "lyhks" next to one another. Good reason too. It's gibberish. THAT is a cat walking on the keyboard name. I take back my comment from whatever the other name was that I accused of being keyboard footprints. This is worse.

Kal-el is Superman's Kryptonian name - his Dad is Jor-El. Could it be a nerdy joke?

On the positive side, at least he can go by just Kal, as if it's short for Kalvin...

Really I think Mom got the short end of the stick her, as at first glance I thought her name was a synonym for crazy.

When I first read the post, I definitely thought it was spam - the names were just too absurd.
