What are your thoughts on the name Macsen? Apparently, it's the Welsh variant of Maximus.

I personally think it's pretty awesome (in sound and appearance), but I worry people would think it was made up based on how rare it is and how trendy it sounds.

yeah, I'm guessing unless you live where Welsh names are common, it's going to be viewed as trendy and cree8iv.

Honestly, I did think it was made up. When some names appear to be made by drawing Scrabble tiles, you never can be too sure.

I have never heard of it and would definitely be unsure of how to pronounce and spell it.

With the popularity of Jackson/Jaxon/etc, I would personally avoid it, even if it was my style.

Despite not really being my style, I do like the sound of it. However, when I first looked at the way it was spelled it reminded me of a unique spelling of Mason..

I thought it was a ugly trendy creative spelling of Mason, which just freaked me out, lol. I do like how it sounds, but it's so ugly looking, I would avoid it.

Yes. I've seen it as a spelling for Mason (on a little girl) so that's how I would automatically pronounce it.

It reminds me of Maxim, mispronounced (Maxim should be max-EEM, not MAX-ihm like the magazine). I have heard people pronounce Maxim like that and I'd prefer Macsen if they wanted similar sounds to MAX-ihm, rather than pronouncing Maxim wrong. Hope that made sense. Anyway, I'm saying I like it ok, it does sound made up but it's better than other names which might be misprounounced on purpose or by accident.

Didn't you know when you name a child, you can just decide what sounds the letters make, despite all language rules? Duh.

It does look trendy and cre8tiv to me. The fact that it is a legitimate name makes it somewhat better. But I would use Maximus instead because in the U.S., people will recognize that as a "real" name.

I think the 'C' was probably being pronounced like in the name Cecily. So like mas-son?

Your guess is as good as mine. I didn't name my kid that, just what I've seen.
